November 2019 – Montessori Academy

Fall is upon us! We enjoyed meeting with everyone during parent teacher conferences! Our Halloween parade was definitely a highlight of our month! As we dive further into Fall, we wanted to ensure everyone is abreast of all the happenings during our Holiday season!

Book Fair

Our scholastic Book Fair will take place 11-15th! This is a great opportunity to add new books to your children’s selections. Teachers will have a wish bin of books they would like personally for your child’s classroom. If you purchase a book for the classroom, stop by the front desk to grab a donation label to sign and place in the book. All purchases will provide us bonus points for us to buy new books for the school and classroom libraries as well as some to donate to Book It Forward, a non profit that provides books to underprivileged children and adults in our area!

Book It Forward Book Drive

Book it Forward! Idaho, a joint initiative of Idaho Voices for Children and The Cabin, is dedicated to increasing access to books for children. They collect new and gently-used books and get them to kids who have little to no access to books at home.

Kids are learning to read up through third grade, and after that, they are reading to learn. Reading proficiently at the end of third grade is the single most important factor for success in school and in life. Having too few books for kids in low-income homes, is a barrier to developing their reading proficiency.

Join our efforts, if you have any gently used books or want to purchase a new book, place books in the Book It Forward Bin and we will get them to children and adults in need.

Individual Pictures

Life Touch studios will be in the building November 13-15th to take individual photos. They take all our students photos. Proofs will be sent home on the day of the shoot and you can order if you so choose from them. If your Preschool Age child does not attend on their classroom schedule, please see the office and we can make accommodations.

Stone Soup Play

In honor of our November Holidays, all classrooms will participate in a community lunch. Please review your child’s classroom newsletter for specifics. Our Upper Elementary will perform the play Stone Soup on Friday November 22 at 9am. All students will watch and parents are welcome to stay.

BMPTO Family Night Out at School!

Come join us on Friday November 15th from 6-9pm! The BMPTO is hosting Toy Story 4! Popcorn and water will be available to purchase. This is a family event and not a drop in service.

National Ancillary Program–Yankee Candle

Need some special Christmas gifts for that candle lover or home good lover in your life? Yankee Candle is your answer. Look for our table in the lobby and pick up a catalog. Sale starts 11/4 and runs through 11/18th. Delivery will be 2-4 weeks from closing date. 30% of all sales will go directly to purchase needed non fiction books for our library!

School Closure

November 11 and November 27-29 the school is closed for holidays.

Upcoming Events

Warm Up Boise–The school will be supporting those in need this winter by collection hats, gloves, scarves, and socks lightly used or new. More information to come.

Holiday Celebrations–Save the Date Friday December 20th! More information coming by November 8th
