A Note From Our Principal
The year is off to a great start and we’re enjoying spending the winter season with your children. Thank you to everyone who purchased books last month in our annual Book Fair. Not only did your local purchases support our community, our school was able to fill the teacher’s wish lists with new books in the class and order new cultural books for our library.
If you’ve not already done so, please send in an extra set of weather appropriate clothes for your child. We want everyone to be able to participate in the fun outdoor activities we have planned.
Have a wonderful month and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sincerely,
Lila Afoa

Class Valentine’s Day Celebrations
Most of our classrooms will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 11th. Celebration details are included inside your child’s classroom newsletter. We will share some photos of the events in your child’s daily report. To help your child prepare valentines for their classroom, please have them write their name on the each envelope instead of each student’s name. This will help in preparing and passing them out. Also, please remember that our school does have a low sugar policy so please keep any candy or sweets at home. Adding stamps, stickers, erasers, etc. are another way to add to the valentine fun.

“The Emperor can be as tall as a 5 year old!”
Kindergarten Corner: You’ve got mail! Our kindergarten students have adopted pen pals with the other Kindergarten students in different classrooms as part of their annual community project. In Room 5, the kindergarten students studied Emperor Penguins as part of their Antarctica unit studies. Students measured themselves and compared their height to that of an Emperor Penguin. This learning took center stage as the students wrote to their pen pals in other classrooms.
