A Note From Our Principal,
We hope your family is enjoying the colorful and brief change in seasons. A huge thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather to celebrate last month at The Farmstead. Thanks to our families, classrooms raised dollars that will directly go back into the classroom. Look for a “what’s new” list posted in December! This month we continue to focus on gratitude and connecting with our community. As part of this focus we are busily preparing for our Holiday Giving campaigns. In November we are holding a local canned food drive to support Idaho Food Bank who hands out food for the holiday season. In addition, our Parent Teacher Organization is partnering with Nourish the Children to purchase bags of food for malnourished children in other countries. All of our food drives will kick off this November!
In a spirit of gratitude,
Holiday Food Collections
This month our school will be collecting food to support the Idaho Food bank. The after school students have decorated a collection box that is located outside each classroom. All food items collected, sorted and weighed by the children. Donations will be delivered to the food bank November 25th. The Idaho Food bank’s annual Empty Bowl event will also have bowls painted by our students. If you are interested in attending or learning more about this event click here.
The Boise Montessori Parent Teacher Organization (BMPTO) is partnering with Nourish the Children as a way to aid in feeding malnourished children all around the world. Information about this sponsorship program will be available in the lobby or follow this link to make a donation. A portion of all donations will go back to the the PTO for student scholarships at the Boise Montessori Academy.
Winter Is Coming
In true Boise fashion, the change in season is just around the corner. Safety in the winter season is our top priority. Here are three winter tips that you should know in order to keep safety in mind during the winter season.
- Classrooms will go outside, daily for outdoor play. Be sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather as well as update your child’s extra clothing bag kept at school. Pro tip: Label everything! There are always multiple pairs of black boots/gloves/ coats etc.
- Help keep our neighbors and children safe, DRIVE SLOWLY & watch out for unseen obstacles while in our parking lot. During the winter months we will have a company that will shovel and de-ice our parking lot and sidewalks. However still use caution; depending on the application time, the surfaces can still be slippery.
- Weather caused delays or closures for our school can sometimes effect operating hours. In the event that a delay or early release is determined, we will send out notifications to families via text, email, update our website and report to the local news. Early morning school closures will be determined prior to 6 am. Please call the school for updates or tune into KTVB for information regarding school closures.
Our classrooms are still in need of some parent volunteers during the school year. Below is a list of
