Practicing Kindness

Every year our learning leaders, the Kindergarten students, pick a year long community project.  This year our older students are leading the school, staff and community by creating a  Kindness Campaign.   Students have been learning a Kindness pledge and teaching about the importance of connection with one another.  Help us nurture empathy in the children by sharing the kindness pledge with us!

October Dates to Remember:

•  October 4 (4-7pm)  Your teachers are crossing their fingers for a smooch with the swine this week!   Come bring your family/friends and play with our Montessori community at our annual Fall all school event.   Admission will be discounted; just mention your with the “Montessori Schools”.   The KISS THE PIG event will be announced on the loud speaker around 6:15-6:30.
• October 5-6th:  School closed for Teacher In Service; Office will also be closed.
• October 13th:  All Kindergarten students will start PE and Music classes begins from 1:30-2:30.
• October 26-27:  School will be closed for Teacher/Parent conferences.   Childcare will be provided during your family’s conference times.   Sign up for your teacher conference is posted on the classroom doors.
• October 31st is Halloween.   We ask that you save costumes and candy for your home celebrations.   There is a “crazy hair” dress up day scheduled for this day that your children and parents are welcomed to participate in!   Also, back by popular demand, the return of the “Candy Swap Shop”!   If you are looking for a place to house all that trick or treat candy, we will have a trade in program that the children can “swap” 10 pieces of candy for a chance to shop our small toys and goods.

School October Events

Boise Montessori Parent Teacher Organization Fundraiser:  October 16-20

We will be welcoming Boise’s local bookstore “Rediscovered Books” as they will be hosting our annual Book fair October 16-20!   R.D. Books will be providing a wide variety of hand-picked books for our school and students!  We are looking for parent volunteers to help host this event during the week M-F; 8:45-9:15 and 2:45-3:15.  Please see Miss Jamie if you’re interested!

School Fundraiser:  October 9-23rd:

Parkcenter Montessori is happy to announce that we are partnering with Yankee Candle Fundraising until October 23rd.   They are the world’s #1 candle brand and they offer a wide range of premium candles, fragrances, and décor items at a very wide range of prices.   Catalogues are available at the office along with online ordering information.  Funds raised will go toward Parkcenter Montessori’s capital expense projects.

Elective Class News

Due to school closures this month, here are updates for elective classes that fall on those dates.

• Tennis and Thursday Ballet:  class on 10/12 and 10/19 only. (October will be prorated)
• Tumble Bus:  15 min. extended class on 10/12 and 10/19; additional class on 10/23
• Soccer: 30 min. extended class on 10/13 and 10/20
• Chess: class on 10/13 and 10/20 only.  (October billing will be prorated)
