Frequently Asked Questions When should I enroll my child in preschool? Montessori Academy Preschool in Meridian offers child care for children as young as 6 weeks old. The Montessori Method gives children the structure they need to make the most of their early years. It helps them develop motor and social skills while learning reading, math, and more. Our students grow into confident young learners who are excited to explore the world around them. What makes Montessori different from other daycare curriculums? Children choose work they are interested in and learn at a pace that suits them, all with guidance from our teachers. Our classrooms are calm and organized. They create the perfect space for learning and independence. We are unlike traditional daycare, which often includes more free play. We provide structured, engaging tasks that build creativity and essential skills. We also teach our students how to be kind, work together, and make good choices without the use of rewards or punishments. What are the hours at Montessori Academy Preschool in Meridian? We know that it is important for you to have reliable child care. We are open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, providing you with the flexibility you need. Whether you are juggling work, appointments, or other events, you can be sure that your child is in a safe place. What safety measures are in place at your school? You will notice our security steps as soon as you walk into our school. We allow entry only to our families, staff, and registered visitors. All visitors must check in at the front desk, show ID, and wear a visitor badge while they are in the school. Only approved adults are allowed to pick up children in our care. What is the difference between daycare and Montessori preschool? People often use the words “daycare” and “preschool” to mean the same thing. However, we are more than just a daycare. Our program helps children become independent and learn about themselves through fun, guided activities that match their age. Our caring Montessori-trained teachers support children in thinking, making friends, and getting ready for school. Our preschool is for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. We give them a strong start for a lifetime of learning and success. How does Montessori teach math? Math is taught through hands-on learning that helps children truly understand concepts rather than memorize them. In the Primary classroom (ages 3–6), children use Montessori materials to explore numbers, quantities, and operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These concrete tools allow students to see and feel how math works, building a strong foundation in number sense and logical thinking while fostering confidence, independence, and a love for math. What is unstructured time in a Montessori preschool? Rather than following a tightly regulated schedule of adult-led lessons, children have long, uninterrupted blocks of time to explore materials and activities that interest them. They are able to work at their own pace and follow their curiosity. This time supports deep focus, creativity, independence, and problem-solving because children are not rushed from one task to another. Why do parents choose Montessori preschools for their children? Parents choose Montessori preschool because it offers a child-centered approach. It helps children become confident, independent, and deeply engaged learners. Children work with hands-on materials, enjoy uninterrupted work periods, and learn at their own pace. Learn more about why families choose Montessori. How much is a Montessori preschool?
