After a fun and busy summer session, we are so excited to welcome you all to our 2024-2025 school year! Our teachers have been working hard this week to prepare their Montessori Environments for their students. The Montessori method begins with a prepared guide and a prepared environment that will engage children, foster their independence, and support their natural curiosity and desire to explore!
Each month, I will send a school-wide newsletter along with your classroom specific newsletter. Each week you will receive a weekly update with school information relevant for the week. You will receive daily photos and updates from Transparent Classroom. For urgent school-wide communication we will email and text.
Independence is a cornerstone of Montessori, and we want to allow children to thrive daily. We ask that parents drop off their children at the classroom door and allow them to walk in on their own. This sense of “I can do it” allows children to gain confidence in ways we can’t measure. It helps children transition quickly and efficiently into their workspace and settle in for a successful day. We recognize if it is their first time, it may be hard to do, but with support from you and our staff, they can do it! Please encourage your students to walk and to carry their own items into class. For students that experience bigger emotions at drop offs, we encourage you to make your goodbye’s brief and informative. Making a plan ahead of time and talking about the goodbye will support the drop off routine. When you are confident and modeling what is expected in the drop off, your child will follow your leadership. We also recognize that every child is unique, and your teaching team is here to support the process!
This month our classrooms will be studying the solar system, introducing grace and courtesy in the classroom, practicing routines, and getting acquainted with our classmates.
For families joining us this year, we are so happy to have you and are here to support you in your transition to your new classrooms! For those continuing with us, welcome back! I look forward to a fun, inspiring, productive, and amazing school year with you all.
Kindly,
Miss Jamie
