Montessori Newsletter July 2021

July Newsletter 2021

Welcome to July! It is hard to believe a month of summer has already gone by. Our campers have been having a lot of fun with our weekly thematic focus, water play days, and special events/Fieldtrips (Elementary).

Kids Helping Kids

This month our school will participate in kids helping kids campaign supporting the Children’s Hospital at St. Luke’s. We are honored to partner with them and support the needs of children in their care. If your family would be willing to donate new/slightly used board books and pre-packaged snacks we would greatly appreciate the support. Our students will help assemble snack packages to stock the snack room and provide those younger students with books to read and keep! You will find donation bins located in the Elementary Hall and Primary Hall. We will deliver our care packages on August 4th, 2021. If we could have all donations by August 2 to prepare we would greatly appreciate it!

Primary Camp

Primary campers will explore the following topics: Eco Explorers, Curiosity Club, and Junior Olympics.

During Eco Explorers, students will learn about how the sun, wind, and rain affect our environment. They will build a sundial and create a habitat that supports our plant life. As they move into curiosity club, our focus will shift from science to math. Campers will learn to tally, use and make graphs, and study all kinds of shapes from the typical circle, square, and triangle to quatrefoil, hexagon, and 3D shapes. During Junior Olympic week campers will work on the meaning of sportsmanship, teamwork, and problem solving through all kinds of games!

Elementary Camp

Elementary camper’s theme for July is caring for our community-animals and humans alike!

Our Elementary students have been hard at work calling and coordinating with St. Luke’s to make our kids helping kids campaign work.

They will be making fliers and coordinating our collection of needed items.

They will also be working with our Primary Campers this month with some science and art projects.

Please ensure you have signed permission for the off-campus field trips to the Human Society, Boise Watershed, and MK nature center!

Hot Weather

Due to the hot weather, we are re-arranging recess schedules to offer our outside times earlier in the day and keep them inside during the hottest parts of the day. It is helpful for children to have labeled water bottles to help with hydrations.

Our teachers will be offering/reminding students to take drinks throughout the day!

Water Days this month are:

Friday, July 9th, and Friday, July 23rd!

Dress Up days this month are:

July 14th –Superhero day! Show your superhero powers!

July 27th—Tie-Dye Day!! Show off your tie-dye!
