May 2021 News

A Note From Our Principal ,

Thank you all for helping our school celebrate Earth Day. Together, students at our school released 500 ladybugs into our garden and are raising over 100 more in their classrooms to release at a later date. Celebrating Earth Day provided our teachers with many opportunities to relate science, math and literacy concepts to everyday life. As we move into May, we are excited to continue the learning in our classrooms both indoors and outdoors!

Sincerely, Lila Afoa

Lights, Camera, Teacher Appreciation Week!

Help us celebrate the teachers who set the stage for success!   This week we are celebrating the teachers Hollywood style by hosting a red carpet photo booth, all week concession stand, Chinese Theatre inspired luncheon, dress up for teacher, fan mail, swag bags and much more.   If you would like to participate or contribute to any of the events, just let the office know.   Gifts for Friday can be brought throughout the week and admin will put everything together as one big grand finale for your teachers on Friday. (You are welcome to mark gifts from your family so teachers know what you provided) Thank you for your help and support of our VIP teachers!

Kindergarten Graduation- Save the Date

JUNE 23:  Our third year Montessori students (2021 kindergarten graduates) have been working hard all year and are looking forward to celebrating their graduation with their families and teachers.   We ask that you save the date for June 23rd if you have a current kindergarten student.   We will celebrate the accomplishments of our 2021 Graduates with safety as our guide.   We will be mailing out invitations for graduation along with details sometime this month.

MAY 12:  This month our Kindergarten students will be practicing community service in our neighborhood.   Teachers and students will help beautify the parking lot and sidewalks of our neighbors at Brookdale Independent Living and our sidewalk.

MAY 18-19:   Kindergarten students of each classroom will be participating in a Stemscope Science Lab with Miss Carrie.   They will be talking about speed and direction.   Each class will have a specific date and time to participate.

Farmer’s Market Sale

Our school is hosting our 2nd annual Farmer’s Market.   For the past few weeks students have been creating crafts to sell for this year’s art focused Farmer’s Market.  May 10-14th we will have some art pieces outside on display.   These items were crafted by all classroom students.   You will even have the opportunity to meet some artists as our kindergarten students will be collecting art sale donations/purchases during the morning and afternoon pick up times.    Our kindergarten students will be using the funds on a outdoor playground material, still to be determined.

Early Release- Teacher Training

Don’t forget that we will be closing early on Friday, May 21st for our teacher’s annual CPR/First Aide certification training.   School will close at 3:00 and after care will not be available.
