May 2021 Newsletter

Montessori Academy Families,

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year has arrived!

The year’s end always brings with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment. So many things have been accomplished this year! From the first days returning to school with a new sense of normal to the Grade K and Grade 6 upcoming Graduations – our students have been involved in an extraordinary number of activities. Of course, we should not forget the tremendous amount of learning in and out of school which has taken place during the year. Throughout all these activities our students have demonstrated great grace and character!

Thank you seems so inadequate to say when trying to express how grateful I am for the continued support our parents and families provide to the teachers and staff at Montessori Academy. We’ve had an amazing year…and each one of you has had a hand in that, no matter how great or small. I am always so, so proud to say that Montessori Academy is MY school andto tell people that I work at Montessori Academy. We could not do what we do without all of you! Thank you so much…from the bottom of my thankful heart!

To our graduates – congratulations on your achievement. Your Montessori Academy team wishes you all the best as you move to your new schools and look forward to all that you will accomplish with the challenges that await you. We also look forward to hearing from the

graduates in the future and we hope that each of them will have gained a firm foundation for their education while at Montessori Academy. We know that many of you will return to visit, as many of our alumni do each year, in the next few years. If this is your last child to leave Montessori Academy, your MA team would like to thank you for your support and for the guidance that you have provided for your child(ren).

For those families who will be returning for the 2021-2022 school year, the school year will begin on Monday, August 30th, 2021. Families with students enrolled in Kindergarten thru sixth grade will receive school supply lists in July. Class placements for our incoming first-grade students will be made over the summer and you will receive a personal video message from them in August welcoming you to their class.

On behalf of the staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer. We can’t wait to hear about your amazing adventures over the summer as we return to school.

With Gratitude,

Kim Brooks

Principal

Teacher Appreciation

We welcome you to help acknowledge our wonderful teaching teams during National Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-8th!

Our appreciation committee has planned the following; however, you may participate in any manner in which you choose:

Monday: Administration is providing specialty coffee made to order to our team. We encourage families to send in notes of appreciation or pictures.

Tuesday: We are looking for donations for our snack cart and drink station (bubbly water, iced tea, water, fresh fruit/veggies, and other snacks)

Wednesday: Gift cards (We have a list of teacher favorites if you would like one)

Thursday: School Supply Drive (We have a list of teacher wants)

Friday: We are providing a catered lunch from our BMPTO!

Thanks for your support in honoring our teachers!

Graduation (Kindergarten & Sixth)

Kindergarten Graduation will be held on May 27th, 2021 at 10:00 am. Invitations are forthcoming.

Sixth Grade Graduation will be held on May 27th, 2021 at 11:00 am. Invitations are forthcoming.

Yearbook

We will start taking yearbook pre-order’s on May 3rd, 2021. Yearbooks cost $25.00. You can send cash or check made out to BMPTO (Boise Montessori PTO). Yearbooks should arrive in the final week of school. We will hand them out on the yearbook signing day. We hope to have a prototype for viewing but are not sure currently.

Elementary Show Night

Our annual show night will happen this year! It will depart a bit from normal as it will not be a whole school show and social event as in years past. We hope to re-boot our normal all-school night for the 2022-2023 school year.

Elementary (1st-6th grade) will be doing a virtual and recorded event. We will pass out invitations to join and celebrate their efforts. They have been working hard to write, perform, and produce the game show “Jeopardy”, Wheel of fortune”, and What Wrong with this picture, with a focus on historical and current figures which will showcase their learning throughout their years at Montessori.
