2019 December News

Note from the Principal

Our small school made a big impact in last month’s giving opportunity supporting the Idaho Food Bank.   Parkcenter families and students gathered 310 pounds of food and the kindergarten students participation in the 22nd annual “Empty Bowl” event helped contribute to funds enough to supply over 150,000 meals to hungry Idahoans.   Thank you to everyone who participated!  In our classroom this month we are expanding on our learning by giving.   The children in our Primary Montessori classrooms are preparing a celebration in the classrooms so please be sure to read in your child’s newsletter for details on your classroom’s party.   We look forward to seeing you all there.

Winter Camp

Our school is closed from December 23-January 3 for winter break.

However during winter school closure, we will be offering Winter Camp on December 26, 27, 30, 31 and January 2 & 3.  Camp hours are from 8-5.  For those attending winter camp, we will be sending out a separate winter camp newsletter by December 17 which will include teacher and classroom assignments, camp activities and much more.  See the lobby for all registration information and details.Registration for winter camp closes Friday, December 13.

There will be no elective classes held during our winter break.   Master’s Chess Academy and Engineering for Kids will be hosting separate specialty winter workshops at Parkcenter during camp days.   Your child is welcome to participate in just these specialty workshops or both a specialty class and our winter camp program; special rates will apply.   For more information and registration, see the front lobby.

Holiday Giving Projects

Our school will be partnering with the Idaho Ronald McDonald House during the month of December.   We will be collecting suggested gift items to donate.    These gifts will be available to house guests of the Ronald McDonald House.   Every year the House sets up a “Santa’s Workshop” of donated toys for kids so that parents can select items for their children, in a stress-free environment, while also staying close to their child’s side as they are undergoing medical treatment.   While medical personnel take care of children facing a medical crisis, the Ronald McDonald House is focused on taking care of their families.  Please pick a tag and bring in the item, unwrapped, and leave under the tree in the large donation boxes.   All collected items need to be brought in by December 18th.

We are also still selling bags of food through Nourish the Children fundraiser through the month of January.   These bags supply nourishing meals to malnourished children around the globe.  In addition, a portion of your purchase will go back to the BMPTO and are earmarked for student scholarship at Montessori Academy.   If you are interested please click here to purchase.

Lil’ Shopper’s Shop CANCELED:   Unfortunately this week we were informed by our vendor that the annual Shopper’s Shop has been canceled.   Given the short notice we were unable to replace the vendor and will not be offering the event this year.

Inclement Weather Reminders

We do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools because we don’t have to contend with the same transportation issues as public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close or delay opening you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. In addition, we will also post notifications on our website, Facebook page and the local news.
