A Note From Our Principal,
Happy spring! We have a fun and busy month planned for our students. In each classroom we are focusing on art and science activities that celebrate spring. Our students always love our annual Earth Day celebration and this year we are releasing 1,000 ladybugs and learning about making a impact in the beautiful environment we live in.
Sincerely,
Lila Afoa
BMPTO Fundraiser Event: Farmer’s Market (April 15-19)
Our Boise Montessori Parent Teacher (BMPTO) organization is a non-profit group with a mission to enhance the Montessori experience for teachers, students and families. This year’s fundraiser will raise funds for next year’s all school enhancement projects.
This year’s Farmer’s Market will be a collection of items made from each classroom. There will be art projects, food items, and children made items for sale. Come and support our PTO through our first Farmer’s Market! If you are interested in helping with your classroom’s project, please let your teacher know.
All funds raised will go back to the BMPTO. For those interested in being a part of our Parkcenter PTO committee, please email Lila.Afoa@nlcinc.com
Spring Performance: Save the date JUNE 20th 4-6 pm
Funds from last year’s fundraising efforts, the “Rock-tion”, will go towards sponsoring a special all school enrichment. Mr. Jon, from Treasure Valley Institute of Art, will be returning to school to teach a special class collaboration that will end in an all school “flash mob” at our end of year party or spring social. The Spring Social event this year will be at Treasure Valley Skate for a Family Skate Night. (more information coming but save the date: JUNE 20th from 4-6 pm)
This end of year party will be the spring performance. As always, participation is optional. However, we will not be performing this year at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival collaboration with our Eagle school in lieu of our Skate Night flash mob.
Earth Day Celebrations
We are so excited for our annual ladybug release to commemorate Earth Day! On Monday, April 22nd, each classroom will be releasing ladybugs onto the playgrounds and grassy areas around our school. Our students are invited to dress up as their favorite insect! We will have some face painters available in the lobby for all the students, teachers and parents wishing to celebrate! Also, please look for the Estimation Station in the lobby focusing on environmental awareness. One lucky winner will be drawn to win a “Zero Waste” inspired gift basket for their family.
The ladybug release is at 10:00 a.m. directly followed by the parade. Parents are welcome to attend, but we will take lots of photos!
Volunteer Opportunities
At the beginning of the year we asked for some volunteer help. If you have signed up or are looking for ways to still participate in helping in your child’s school or activities, please contact lila.afoa@nlcinc.com. For those who have signed up, please expect a call from the committee chair about these upcoming events.
Classroom Readers: Are you available to listen to our student readers? Help is need in class rooms 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7 have a need for your help. Our schedule is flexible but the morning time (9-11:30) works best for most schedules.
Classroom Art Projects: Three upcoming events in the spring where our classrooms need extra hands to help cut/glue/direct and organize children art projects. If you feel gifted in that area, let your teacher know! We have one project per class in the months of April/May/June where extra hands would be helpful.
Gardeners: Spring time means our garden is opening and we are seeking some extra green thumbs. If you would like to help us prep our garden for some little planters please email jamie.jennings@nlcinc.com
Teacher Appreciation: (MAY 6-10th) This event is around the corner and we need some volunteers to help make this day special. We will have a variety of ways you can help participate. See more information on April 15th in the weekly updates.
