Principals Message

As we head into the final stretch of the school year and the weather continues to improve, we have to constantly remind ourselves that there are still two months of school left, and busy months they are! The staff is providing many exciting opportunities for students to enrich their school experience through events such as our Earth Day events, class trips and activities. Our focus continues to be on student engagement and creating lessons and activities that provide opportunities for our students to communicate and collaborate, be creative, solve problems, and think critically.

Additionally, we will share your child’s growth and progress over the year during our April Parent Teacher Conferences.  We will offer conferences April 24th in the afternoon thru early evening for working parents who have their students enrolled in our PM care program, April 25th in the morning thru mid-afternoon; and April 26th in the morning.  School is closed on April 25th and 26th to accommodate conferences.  We will offer childcare for your students during your conference times.  If you are unable to make a scheduled conference, progress reports will be sent home and you can set up a phone conference or communicate via email with any questions. Due to meetings, testing, curriculum planning, and other obligations our teachers may not have or will have limited time frames to meet personally outside our pre-determined conference dates.  We appreciate your understanding.

Our annual summative assessments will begin April 17 and run through 2nd week of May for students K-6th grade.  Students will be tested in short time frames over the course of this time for language (vocabulary, verbal reasoning, writing, reading comprehension, and word analysis) and Math (Quantitative Reasoning, Numeracy, Problem Solving, and Operations).

As always, I encourage you to talk to your child(ren) about school and the things he/she is learning, and maintain open lines of communication.

Supporting Efforts within our school and local Community ( Me to We)

 Pennies for Patients Campaign

During the month of April, our school will be hosting a penny campaign to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Our school goal is to raise $500.00 to support research to beat blood cancers.  We have a kick off assembly scheduled for our Elementary students on April 5th at 8:30 but anyone is welcome.  We will present materials to our Primary students individually in their classroom and at their developmental level.

Each classroom will have a penny jar to collect that loose change.  At the end of our campaign, we will celebrate all their efforts with a special snack during their lunchtime.  Elementary Students will count change weekly and post our goal thermometer on the door leading into our parent lounge.

Every Hero needs a squad and together we change cancer.
