February 2016 Newsletter

School Closed: February 15th

*Childcare registration for this closure is now available in the lobby through February 11th.   We must have at least 12 students RSVP in order to hold childcare.

From the Principal’s Desk:

Thank you for all of you who participated in our recent Parent Survey.   We had over 56% of parent participation!   Your feedback is important to us so we can continue to offer a quality Montessori program.

Priority re-enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year is now out.  Please ensure that your child’s forms are turned in to the office no later than February 19th.  Summer registration for 2016 will open March 1st.

Did you miss our Idaho Stampede Night?   Our students sang beautifully and even got to “run the tunnel” with the basketball players!   Thank you for everyone who came and participated!

Kindergarten Night:  Wednesday, February 3rd at 6:30

For those families with students that are age ready for Kindergarten in 2016-17, we invite you to attend our parent information night.  We will talk about the benefits of completing the Montessori 3 year cycle.  Your classroom teacher will also be giving a presentation about how the kindergarten year translates in your child’s classroom.  Please note that there will not be childcare during this event.

Elementary Night:  Wednesday, Februrary 4th at Montessori Academy 6:30

For those current kindergarten students that are considering Montessori Elementary programs, this is a night you’ll want to be at.  Our Elementary teacher from Montessori Academy will be talk about what to expect in the Montessori Elementary program.   There will be no childcare for this event.  See the front office for more details.

Food Allergy and Low Sugar Reminder

Many of the classrooms this month will be participating in a Valentine exchange in their classroom.   Please remember that our school follows a low sugar and peanut free policy in all classrooms.   These policies apply to all foods coming into the school for snack, lunches, birthday celebrations, etc.

How do we know if it is “low sugar”?  Any food coming into the school should have sugar listed as the 5th ingredient.  If there is ever something brought in that is questionable, your teacher may send it home instead of serve.  If you are considering adding something extra in your child’s valentine card this year, we encourage you to avoid candy and consider other fun items such as stickers, tattoos, pencils, etc.

We want school to be a safe place for all our children.  Many of our classrooms support children with additional dietary limitations.  Check with teachers for additional food allergies/diet requests specific to the classroom.

Extended Day Care Open for Pre-Montessori

Parkcenter Montessori is now opening up our AM and PM programs to our Pre-Montessori students.  By popular request, we will now be accepting students enrolled in Pre-Montessori classroom into our Before School (7am-9am) and After School (3pm-6pm) programs.  If you are interested in signing up for any of these extended day programs, please see the front office for a schedule change request form.

This means a few new things, especially if you are enrolled in electives and/or After school.

  1.  Electives formerly held in room 1 will now be held in room 4.    Check the Elective Board in the lobby for the most up to date information on where Elective classes are being held.
  2.  Miss Addie will be the new room 7 after school teacher.
  3.  Miss Martha will be the new room 1 & 4 after school teacher.  Their classroom will be room 1.

Art to Remember

Our school is participating in a healthy, creative fundraiser with “Art to Remember”.

Right now the children are busy creating colorful, fun artwork that we will showcase during our February Art Fair.  This year our school is partnering with “Art to Remember” fundraiser where you will have the chance to order personalized materials with your child’s art.

Be on the lookout for your child’s art and order form by March 7th.

Your purchase captures a moment in time with your child while supporting our school!
