Mathmatics in Montessori:

Every child and adult needs to know and understand math.  It is an integral part of our everyday life.  We count money, we measure, we cook, we sort things, we may use mathematics tools, etc…

Your child learns math everyday while they are at school but research shows that families are essential part of this process.  How can you make math part of your family’s life?

  • Talk about Math.  Talk about why it is important.  Keep the conversation positive and avoid sharing any of your dislike or struggles with math.
  • Know what your child is studying in math.  Talk with your child.  Talk with your teachers and know the standards regardless of whether you have a preschool age child or in High school.
  • Encourage your child to use math tools.  Math , math tools, and technology are great partners whether it is a calculator, compass, computer, ruler, etc.  Doing tasks that involve math help children prepare for the future.
  • Make math an everyday part of your family.  Puzzles, board games, making shopping budgets, cooking, home repairs all are opportunities to engage your child in math.
  • Notice Math in the World.  Point it out.  Show they the importance in math in the world around them.  How does math fit within your job, sports, music, art, etc.

Excerpt public service announcement on math form California Office of Education.

Parent Survey

We are requesting five minutes of your time to complete a brief survey about your experience at your school. The information you provide will help us make our schools better for our families.

Between January 5th and January 7th, you will receive an email containing a link to our online school survey. If you have not received your survey by Friday, January 8th, please contact your school principal for assistance.

Please be assured that all your answers will remain anonymous and only combined answers will be shared with your school’s Principal and Executive Director.  Note, more than one parent may receive and respond to this survey if you have furnished your school with both email addresses.  To ensure that you receive the survey in a timely manner, please add schoolsurvey@mghus.com to your email address book. Doing so will greatly improve deliver-ability.  Thank you for your honest feedback.

Priority Re-Registration for 2016-2017

Soon it will be time to make decisions regarding your child’s enrollment for next school year.  Enrollment decisions are difficult and we want to ensure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

We will be hosting a Kindergarten Orientation and Elementary Orientation to provide you with all the information you will need to help in your decision making process.  Our Orientation nights will be specific to our school but we will welcome any and all questions.  If you are considering a different school, I encourage you to meet with the Principal, tour the school, join their informational nights, and ask all your questions!

Priority enrollment for our school will begin on January 20th and end on February 20th.  Priority enrollment is open ONLY to currently enrolled families.  Once Priority enrollment closes, we will begin open enrollment starting with those families in order on our waiting list.  We of course want ALL our returning students!
