School Closed for Winter Break

December 21- January 3rd

From the Principals Office:

In our classrooms we always talk about the importance of “modeling” for children.  As I look back on November I’m seeing that our children are setting the ”model” for this holiday season.   They have shown us joy, thankfulness and giving in so many wonderful ways!   During our recent food drive the students and their families collected over 352 pounds of food!   In addition the kindergarten students painted bowls that are projected to raise over $350 towards the Idaho Food Bank.

Thank you for sharing your children and the joy they bring to our school every day!

December Happenings

Giving Tree:  Once again we will be participating in the “I Believe- Christmas Box” program.  This year the boxes will go to children in the Wilder Elementary School district, including the Jr High and High School students as well.   We encourage your family to consider giving back to our community by supporting a student.   To participate:

  1. Take a Student Tag from the tree. These tags will have information about the child you are shopping for and also a list of items to include in your gift box.
  2. Take a box for each Student Tag. Fill each box with the required and optional gifts for that child and return to school (UNWRAPPED).
  3. Return your box and items to the school by DECEMBER 10th.

Scholastic Book Fair:   Our BMPTO is sponsoring a book fair in the lobby through December 8th.   100% of proceeds will go to support Parkcenter Montessori Library and classroom books.   Check out your child’s classroom “Wish List”!   Thank you all for your purchases and donations.

Celebrations Around the World:  Each year our classrooms look at different celebrations that are celebrated around the world during this season.   You may have noticed the flags that are up in the hallways.  This collection has grown over the years and is representative of nationalities of students (and staff) that have been a part of our school’s community through the past 15 years.  We have a flag identification game available in the lobby that you and your child can play together; take the time to “explore our world” this holiday season!

Childcare During Winter Break:  Dec. 21-23 & Dec. 28-30

For those families needing childcare during the Winter Break we have optional childcare sign up.   Please note that the last day to drop/add childcare will be on December 15th.   After that date, all registrations will be billed to your account and availability to add days may be limited.   Please remember that childcare days are limited hours and combined classrooms.   Hours of operation will be from 8am-5pm and no hot lunch will be available.

Snow Day (It Could Happen)

In the event that weather conditions are deemed unsafe, the Boise School district may activate a school closure.   Parkcenter Montessori will follow Boise School District for any school closings.   To find out if we are closed we will communicate it by the following ways:

  1. Follow www.boisemontessori.com for any school closures.
  2. Watch KTVB for school closure information.   The school district will typically call closures by 5 AM.   Our school closure will post by 6AM.
  3. Email/Voicemail. We will email our school wide distribution list of our closure and leave an outgoing message on our voice mail to notify of any closures.

Winter Recess

Our school follows the Central District Health Department guidelines on weather outdoor limits.   We will go outside every day for recess unless the weather and/or air quality is deemed unsafe by these guidelines.  Be sure that your child brings in winter coats, hats, gloves, pants for outdoor play.   Remember to label names on each item clearly, to ensure the same outdoor ware comes home!
